The First Car Radio on the Moon

It was the early 2000s, and Motorola wanted recognition from a new, younger demographic. The one asset Motorola had in spades was a storied history which became The First Car Radio on the Moon (The name refers to both Motorola’s pioneering the first car radios and developing the communications equipment for NASA’s lunar rover). The company archive netted iconic images with a retro cool cache to create a portrait of Motorola few expected to see. The book was covered in magazines from Vogue to Dazed & Confused and was recognized in the Creative Review Annualas well as receiving Marketing Magazine’s design award and being a finalist in the Design Week awards.
